LIFT FAQ

What are the benefits of LIFT?

LIFT can deliver new purpose-built facilities which will provide people with modern, high quality primary care and community services closer to their homes.

A 'one stop centre' approach to these LIFT developments aims to help the local health community and local authority service achieve greater joined up service provision.

A large proportion of current health and community facilities are out dated, do not always meet patient expectations, are not Disability Discrimination Act compliant and fully accessible to all users, and fail to meet both general and specific minimum standards for the delivery of modern healthcare as well as offering no potential for service expansion.

LIFT can alleviate these problems by:

  • Developing state-of-the-art facilities close to people's homes and the community it serves for the delivery of high quality healthcare;
  • Designing facilities that have flexible and interchangeable spaces which will respond to future service demand;
  • Providing the capacity to accommodate a range of health and social care professionals and services under one roof and promote opportunities for integrated service delivery; and
  • Contributing towards the regeneration of Oldham's neighbourhoods and the County as a whole.

To date the LIFT initiative is providing a range of building types including re-provision of GP premises, one-stop primary care centres, integrated health and local authority service centres, health and well being centres incorporating leisure facilities and community hospitals across the UK.
