How used cooking oil can help power your local community facility.
A number of Community 1st’s managed buildings are powered by Combined Heat and Power generators which are fuelled by a bio-mass fuel based 100% on a waste product (used cooking oil) which could have otherwise ended up in landfill or poured down the drain.
A collection scheme for the waste product is already in place in the Oldham area, collecting from public buildings and businesses in and around the borough.
We hope to provide recycling containers to be placed at recycling centres so the public can contribute their own waste cooking oil to the scheme shortly.
The Oldham Integrated Care Centre, Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, Royton Health and Wellbeing Centre and Werneth Primary Care Centre are already benefitting from these sustainable design features and access to the heat and power from the innovative green technologies.
