Oldham Run4Fun 2009
Following the success of previous year’s event, Community 1st Oldham and national sports development charity StreetGames hosted another free to enter family fun run at Alexandra Park in Oldham on 20th September 2009.
The event was a massive success, with over 150 people taking part to run, jog or walk around the park and even the weather managed to stay dry, ensuring everybody finished the course in high spirits.
As the Run4Fun is all about participation rather than winning, everyone who completed the course received a medal.
The event was organised by Community 1st Oldham, national sports development charity StreetGames, Oldham Community Leisure, Oldham Council and the Health Improvement Team from Oldham Community Health Services, to encourage participation in sport and raise awareness of healthy living.
Neil Charlesworth, General Manager of Community 1st Oldham, said: “Community 1st is dedicated to delivering modern health and community facilities in the Oldham area which really meet the needs of the communities in which they are located. Working together with StreetGames and the Oldham sport and health teams on the Run4Fun we were proud to deliver an event to bring communities together to have fun and get fit.”
