Community 1st Oldham and the Oldham LIFT partnership shortlisted for award

Community 1st Oldham is delighted that the Oldham LIFT partnership, which includes NHS Oldham, Oldham Council, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust and a private sector partner, has been shortlisted in the  Community Partnerships Awards 2010, in the Best Housing, Construction and Infrastructure category.

The category aims to recognise partnerships which can demonstrate how they are working to build modern communities in which people want to live and work, now and in the future, while minimising impacts on the local and wider environment.

The partnership is delivering the most significant investment in primary healthcare and community facilities locally in recent years with three new health facilities, including the recently opened flagship Oldham Integrated Care Centre in Oldham town centre, already open to the public, a new Local Authority led wellbeing centre for Chadderton due to open in the next few weeks, a health and wellbeing centre half way through its construction programme in Royton and three more state-of-the art health and wellbeing centres in the Werneth, Shaw and Crompton and Fitton Hill areas of Oldham due to start construction in early 2010.

The next stage is an interview with the judges on 11th December to review the entry in more detail. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 4th February 2010 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
